What happened on the show
Ramsay saw the upside at The Glass House almost at once. Ambleside pulled a steady stream of tourists, the building was handsome, the location strong. The food was the problem. He pinned it on a nervous, inexperienced new owner, Neil Farrell, and a head chef, Richard Collins, whose laziness was wasting an otherwise capable kitchen brigade. The kitchen itself was filthy, so Ramsay put the staff to work scrubbing and repainting it alongside him. An early failure brought Richard close to the sack, but he talked Neil into one more chance and delivered, steering a service built on a leaner, revamped menu. When Ramsay came back a month later he found genuine progress: the menu had improved again, the food with it, and Neil and Richard were finally working as a team rather than against each other. It was, by the standards of this show, a rescue that actually took hold while the cameras were still rolling.
After the cameras left
The Glass House traded under that name until it closed in March 2014, but this is a rename rather than a death. The same owner, Neil Farrell, kept the Rydal Road site going, relaunching it as The Fulling Mill, which is still open. We rate this medium confidence: the local outlet that reported the change blocks direct access, so the detail comes from two independently worded search results that agree, cross-checked against a current Fulling Mill listing showing live hours. In Ambleside terms, the restaurant Ramsay rescued did not vanish so much as change its sign.
