Sea Shell Motel
Virginia Beach, Virginia
This one survived. It remains in business.
What happened after
Family-owned 2-star motel with beach access; official site active.
What happened on the show
On the Virginia Beach oceanfront, the 24-room Sea Shell was losing money, and Melchiorri quickly found the real problem was the man running it. The older owner refused to change his ways, would not issue refunds even for genuinely bad rooms, and delivered the kind of poor customer service that sinks a small beach motel. Complicating matters, his daughter and son-in-law had a plan to take over the business while another daughter had ideas of her own, a family succession tangle playing out on top of the operational mess. Anthony's task was both practical and delicate: fix the rooms and the service while helping a family sort out who would carry the property forward. He pushed the stubborn owner to accept change and worked to align the next generation around a shared plan, because a family at odds over the future cannot run a tight operation in the present.
After the cameras left
The Sea Shell is still on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. As of our 2026 verification the family-owned two-star motel with beach access is open, with an active official site, at 2301 Atlantic Avenue. Whether the succession question the episode surfaced was ever cleanly resolved is not documented in our sourcing, but the property itself has stayed in business more than a decade on. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
