What happened on the show

Melchiorri's Panama episode came with a logistics nightmare before he even reached the property: the Las Olas sat in a remote beachfront spot near David, far from anything, served by cabs he found completely unreliable. Once there, he encountered bathrooms stained with an iron film from the water, a flat and uninviting pool area, and a restaurant weighed down by a menu far too large for its own good. A remote resort has to reward the effort of getting there, and these were exactly the failures that leave a hard-won guest disappointed. Anthony worked the rooms, the pool and the restaurant, pushing ownership to fix the water and cleanliness issues, rethink the pool as a real amenity and trim the menu to something the kitchen could actually execute. The fix aimed to make a hard-to-reach beach resort worth the journey.

After the cameras left

Las Olas is still drawing travelers to Panama's Pacific coast. As of our 2026 verification the beachfront resort at Playa La Barqueta near David is open, with its official site and multiple booking platforms showing current pricing and reviews, and it is marketed on some sites as the Las Olas Beach Resort in a minor name variant. Its traveler-review profile runs past three hundred entries. The remote, rough-edged resort the episode found has stayed in business selling the same stretch of beach. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
