What happened on the show
Perched above the water at 1155 Coast Blvd, La Jolla Cove Suites had one of the most enviable views in Southern California and, in the show's telling, an operation that was not living up to it. An oceanfront hotel looking straight at the cove, it drew Melchiorri for the classic Season 1 reason: extraordinary real estate paired with an ordinary guest experience. Anthony pressed on the disconnect, examining how the rooms, service, and presentation measured against the postcard outside the window, and challenging ownership to run the property with the ambition its address deserved. The fix was about matching the operation to the setting, cleaning up the stay, sharpening the offer, and giving guests a reason to pick this view and this hotel over the cheaper options a few blocks inland.
After the cameras left
La Jolla Cove Suites is alive and investing in itself. As of our 2026 verification the oceanfront hotel is open, currently working through a renovation while still bookable through its own live reservation system, and now marketed as La Jolla Cove Hotel & Suites on the same Coast Boulevard perch. A property mid-renovation is a property spending money on its future, not winding down. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
