What happened on the show
Melchiorri's third stop of the run was a 1950s survivor in Miami's MiMo District, a motel-style hotel on Biscayne Boulevard whose midcentury bones were more interesting than its current condition. The New Yorker traded on Miami Modern nostalgia yet, like most Season 1 subjects, was struggling to convert character into cash flow. Anthony's approach to a property like this was to separate the charm worth keeping from the neglect that had to go, then rebuild the guest experience around the former. He looked hard at the rooms, the curb appeal, and how the hotel presented itself to a traveler comparing it against Miami's endless competition, and pushed the operation to lean into its retro identity as a selling point rather than an excuse. The through line of his fix was the same one he brought to every stop: know exactly who your guest is, give them a clean and honest version of what your building already promises, and price it like you mean it.

As of our 2026 check the Biscayne Boulevard hotel is listed and bookable, now marketed as The New Yorker Miami Hotel, a minor name variant on the same midcentury property at 6500 Biscayne Boulevard. Its review profile runs past a thousand entries with a middling but stable rating, the sort of record that says a budget hotel is very much alive rather than thriving. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
