Deep in California's Gold Country, the Hotel Léger gave Melchiorri one of the oldest properties the show ever touched, a hotel dating to 1851 and recognized as a California Historical Landmark. A building with that much history carries both an irreplaceable draw and the burden of aging bones, and the operation had to sell the heritage without letting the guest experience feel like a museum piece. Anthony worked through the rooms and hospitality at 8304 Main Street, weighing what genuine period character was worth keeping against the tired edges that were costing the hotel modern travelers. He pushed the owners to modernize where guests feel it while guarding the history that made the Léger unlike anything else, the balance every landmark property on the show had to find. The aim was a hotel that wore its 1851 pedigree as a selling point rather than an excuse.
After the cameras left
The Léger's long run continued, and the show thought enough of it to return. The hotel was revisited in a 2014 Hotel Impossible Undercover episode, and as of our 2026 verification the historic property is open, with a live official site and a working booking-request system. It bills itself among the longest continually operating hotels in California, a claim its 1851 origin and landmark status support. Nearly two centuries into its history and a decade past the cameras, the Léger is still taking guests. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
