Capital Plaza Hotel

Frankfort, Kentucky

OPEN

Open. The rescue stuck and it continues to operate.

What happened after

Frankfort's only full-service hotel/conference center; official site active, indoor pool, 24hr operation.

What happened on the show

As the only full-service hotel in Kentucky's capital, the Capital Plaza in Frankfort should have been a reliable performer, but Melchiorri found finances spinning out of control, a maintenance director more interested in running a microbrewery than in basic upkeep, and water pans sitting in the ceiling catching leaks. The episode, Waterpan-Gate, made a running joke of that last detail while pointing at a serious pattern: a property whose money and maintenance had both gotten away from it. A capital city's only full-service hotel and conference center has a captive market of government, business and event traffic, so these were failures of management rather than demand. Anthony worked the finances, the maintenance and the guest experience, pressing the owners to get spending under control and to refocus a distracted maintenance operation on the leaks and upkeep that a full-service hotel cannot ignore.

After the cameras left

The Capital Plaza is still Frankfort's full-service anchor. As of our 2026 verification the hotel and conference center at 405 Wilkinson Boulevard is open, with an active official site, an indoor pool and round-the-clock operation, and recent 2025 and 2026 reviews confirm ongoing business. The leaky-ceiling, overspending property the episode found has stayed in operation as the capital's only full-service hotel. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
