What happened on the show
At the 120-room Brookside Resort in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains, Melchiorri found an operation undermined from within. The manager avoided confronting guests, the housekeepers were overworked and stretched thin, and the rooms were, bluntly, filthy. The episode, Underwear, Under Where?, played the grim housekeeping for laughs while pointing at a resort that had lost its grip on the basics. A 120-room property in a heavily touristed mountain town has strong demand, so filthy rooms and a conflict-averse manager are failures of leadership and labor, not market. Anthony worked the housekeeping operation, the management and the guest experience, then pushed the owners to properly staff and supervise the cleaning, to back a manager willing to hold standards, and to bring a large resort's rooms back to an acceptable level. The fix centered on the unglamorous core of hotel-keeping: clean rooms, reliably.
After the cameras left
The Brookside survived under a new name. It now operates as Brookside Lodge, also referenced as Brookside Resort by Fairbridge, and its official site describes a family-owned property dating to the 1930s, with recent 2025 and 2026 guest reviews confirming current business at 463 East Parkway in Gatlinburg. The rename and brand affiliation gave the struggling resort a fresh identity while keeping it in operation. Confirmed operating as of 2026 under the Brookside Lodge name.
