Hotel Impossible · Season 2, Episode 12 · Aired March 18, 2013

Bromley Sun Lodge

Peru, Vermont

RENAMED

Renamed since the episode, and still in business. It now goes by Sun Lodge, an Ascend Collection Hotel.

What happened after

Rebranded under Choice Hotels' Ascend Collection banner; official site confirms it is the former Bromley Sun Lodge property at the same address, ski-in/ski-out at Bromley Mountain.

What happened on the show

Ski-in, ski-out at the base of Vermont's Bromley Mountain, the Bromley Sun Lodge had a location skiers dream about, paired with an operation that, by its own on-camera account, was not turning that access into a healthy business. A slopeside lodge lives on the winter season and the summer mountain trade, and the Sun Lodge needed to convert its enviable position into consistent bookings rather than take it for granted. Melchiorri weighed the rooms against the service on offer at the Route 11 property, then pushed ownership to sell the ski-in, ski-out advantage as the premium asset it was and to hold the standards that let a mountain lodge command its rates. It was the diagnosis the series made over and over for a location-rich property: the address opens the door, but the operation has to earn the guest and the return visit.

After the cameras left

The Sun Lodge came out of it with a new corporate flag. The former Bromley Sun Lodge now operates as the Sun Lodge, an Ascend Collection Hotel, rebranded under Choice Hotels' Ascend banner at the same slopeside address on Vermont Route 11, and its own site confirms the redesign and a live reservation system. The rename attaches a chain's booking power to the same ski-in, ski-out building at the foot of Bromley Mountain. Confirmed operating as of 2026 under the new brand.
