What happened on the show

Craufurdland Castle closed out the series with a race against the clock. The castle near Kilmarnock in Ayrshire dates back more than eight centuries and has been the seat of the Craufurd family since 1245, though the constant upkeep of so fragile a property had become a serious financial drain. After years of renting the place out, Simon Craufurd and his wife Adity had only just moved back in, hoping to reclaim the family home for themselves and their children. The catch was brutal: they had roughly six months' worth of money to sustain them, which meant the castle had to start earning almost immediately. Simon Davis was struck that a place with such a rich and important history sat all but unknown to the public who might pay to experience it, and his plan was to open that story up. The finale near Kilmarnock came down to whether he could convince the Craufurds to back a business built around sharing the castle they had only just come home to.

After the cameras left

Craufurdland Castle turned its six-month deadline into a thriving, many-sided operation. As of our latest verification pass Craufurdland Country Estate near Kilmarnock runs as an exclusive-use wedding castle with self-catering rooms, a restaurant called The Laird's Table, a high-ropes course, and activities from archery and bushcraft to fishing, plus a woodland burial ground and pet-friendly stays. We fetched the official site directly and found live content across every one of those strands, with current contact numbers for the different departments. This is a fitting finale outcome: the family who moved back in with barely half a year of runway built precisely the public-facing, history-led business Simon Davis argued the castle needed, and it is unmistakably still trading.
