What happened on the show
Black Clauchrie House began life as an Arts and Crafts hunting lodge, set in grounds near Barrhill in South Ayrshire, and by the time Adrian and Caroline Goodall called for help they had owned it since 2004 without ever turning that heritage into a living. The episode, tellingly titled around a house that nearly tore its owners apart, put the couple's relationship at the centre of the story as much as the building. Ruth Watson's advice pointed toward the obvious revenue a remote and characterful property like this can earn: marketing it as holiday accommodation, giving paying guests a reason to travel to that corner of Ayrshire. The tension was whether the Goodalls' other professional commitments, and the strain they were putting on the marriage, would undo the plan before it started. Ruth returned the following year for the Revisited follow-up to see whether they had revitalised Black Clauchrie as a business and, just as pointedly, whether they had come through their troubles as a couple.
After the cameras left
Black Clauchrie's current trading status is one we could not confirm. A static Facebook page for the house exists but shows no datable recent activity, the obvious official domain returns nothing at all, and an old-houses listing refused to load on our attempts. Across several searches, no current self-catering or booking listing surfaced, and our search tools were degrading during that pass, so the absence of a result is not proof of closure. Honestly stated: as of our latest verification pass we have no confirmed evidence that the holiday-accommodation business Ruth encouraged is still trading near Barrhill, and no firm evidence it has closed either. We have flagged it for a fresh check under gentler conditions. For now the last thing we can stand behind is the house itself and its history, not its present operation.
