Elmore Court had been the Guise family seat for close to eight hundred years when it landed in the hands of Anselm Guise, a working dance DJ who inherited the Gloucestershire estate in 2007 from an uncle who had never much approved of how he lived. The baronetcy itself went to Anselm's father, then in his late seventies. What Anselm got was a Grade II listed mansion and a relaxed temperament that was letting the fabric of the place slide quietly toward disrepair. Ruth Watson's job at Elmore, in the village of Elmore, was less about spreadsheets than about lighting a fire under the owner: getting a laid-back heir to feel the urgency his crumbling house demanded. The idea that gained traction was a cookery school run out of the estate, a way to pull revenue into a property that badly needed it. When Ruth came back for the Revisited episode, she wanted to know whether the school had actually opened and turned a corner, and whether Anselm had grown into the responsibility of saving his ancestral home.
After the cameras left
Elmore Court did far more than survive. As of our latest verification pass it operates as an award-winning weddings and events venue, with sixteen bedrooms, its own in-house catering, and an events journal carrying content dated into 2026. We fetched the official site directly and found a live booking funnel, so this is one of the clearer success stories on the show: the crumbling estate Ruth found sliding into neglect is now a going concern built around exactly the kind of hospitality revenue she argued the house could generate. Anselm Guise's ancestral seat in Elmore earns its own upkeep now, which is the whole point of the exercise.
