What happened on the show
Feuding brothers were driving customers out of the oldest bar and barbecue joint in Youngstown, their obnoxious behavior threatening to torch a genuine local legacy. At Royal Oaks, established back in 1934, Taffer had to put the fire back in the brothers' bellies before their infighting destroyed a business the city had leaned on for generations, and he watched the recon alongside Youngstown mayor John McNally. His recon spies were disgusted enough to walk out mid-visit. The rescue kept the Royal Oaks name through the makeover, a clear signal that a nine-decade legacy was worth preserving once the brothers stopped undermining it, betting that reminding two siblings what they stood to lose could reset a business their behavior had put at risk.
After the cameras left
Royal Oaks is still pouring, legacy intact. The bar kept its original name and continues to operate at 924 Oak Street, with an official website noting its 1934 founding and reviews dated across November 2024, October 2025 and April 2026 confirming ongoing business, which puts the open call at high confidence. Its Facebook page carries nearly 11,000 likes with recent activity. Youngstown's oldest bar and barbecue joint survived the brothers' feud and kept its doors open, one of the clearer survivors in this stretch of the catalog.
