What happened on the show
A once-popular Laguna Niguel bar had fallen hard after a change in local law reshaped its business, and the regulars who remained were now actively scaring off any woman who walked through the door. Taffer faced fierce resistance from that entrenched crowd as he tried to rebuild Rocks into something with broader appeal than a clubhouse for its most off-putting patrons. The challenge was cultural as much as operational, because saving the room meant loosening the grip of the very customers keeping everyone else away. Taffer reworked the space and reopened it as Power Plant, an energetic rebrand meant to signal a clean break from the insular, unwelcoming identity the old regulars had built around themselves. The gamble was whether a bar could survive alienating its die-hards long enough to win a wider audience, trading a small, loyal, off-putting core for the larger crowd that a change in the law had otherwise put within reach.
After the cameras left
Neither the old name nor Taffer's stuck for good. Power Plant gave way to a further rebrand, and the address at 23932 Aliso Creek Road now operates as Rock-It Bar. Yelp shows daily noon-to-eight hours and recent 2025 and 2026 reviews consistent with an ongoing business, holding the open call at medium confidence. Owner Scott Terheggen, who opened the original bar back in 1996, has kept a room running on the site across every name change.
