What happened on the show
Two cancer scientists were trying to run a bar, and Taffer set about bringing the scientific method to the task. At Paladino's in Tarzana, the owners' research background became the rescue's organizing idea, an attempt to apply rigor and data to a business they were approaching more as amateurs than operators. The rescue worked to translate the scientists' analytical instincts into functional bar management. Taffer reopened the room as Theory, a vintage parlor bar, a rebrand whose very name nodded to the owners' scientific bent while giving the venue a distinctive, upscale identity, betting that pairing the scientists' discipline with a coherent concept could turn an experiment of a bar into a real one. The novelty of two research scientists behind a bar gave the episode its hook, but the underlying problem was ordinary: owners who understood laboratories far better than they understood running a room.
After the cameras left
Paladino's, rebranded Theory, has since closed. Wikipedia's episode list carries the note that this bar has been closed, a generic footnote without a date or further detail, which holds the closure at medium confidence as the only source found. The cancer scientists' bar did not survive: whatever rigor the scientific-method framing and the vintage parlor rebrand brought to the operation, the room Taffer reopened as Theory eventually shut its doors, closing out one of season six's more conceptually novel rescues.
