What happened after

Renamed 'Second Base Bar & Grill' after Bar Rescue Season 2; received a second Taffer re-rescue in Season 4 Ep 11 ('Second Base, Third Strike', Feb 2015) after backsliding. Per Tasting Table's retrospective, the business closed on its own volition (not city-shut-down) around February 2025, roughly a decade after the original episode.

What happened on the show

Early success had gone to the owner's head at Extremes, and the sports bar was paying the price. He drank, drifted and lost interest in the room, while his bartenders were made to work in tasteless bikinis that drew no crowd, and the staff had splintered into warring camps of senior and new hires fighting over tips. On top of the dysfunction sat serious hygiene problems, the kind that turn customers away for good. Taffer addressed the neglect head on, forced the owner to confront how far he had checked out, swapped the bikinis for baseball-inspired uniforms, and rebranded the Orange bar as Second Base, a play on its sports theme and its past. For the recon he brought in the owner and general manager of the series premiere's Angel's Sports Bar, a nice bit of continuity, before relaunching the room with a clearer identity and a bet that an owner pulled back into the business could hold what his complacency had nearly wrecked.

After the cameras left

Second Base outlasted almost everything else from its era, but not without more drama. It backslid badly enough to earn a rare second Taffer rescue in early 2015, the show's second-ever walkout when owner Terry refused to cooperate. The bar at 1535 West Chapman Avenue ultimately closed on its own terms around February 2025, roughly a decade after the original episode, per a Tasting Table retrospective, done in by competition and slipping standards rather than a shutdown. Confidence is medium on that secondary source.
