What happened on the show
Alex Polizzi headed to Crawley in West Sussex in series 10 to help a family-run hotel just five miles from Gatwick. Despite that proximity to a busy airport, which should have guaranteed trade, the Waterhall Country House Hotel was struggling, and owners Anne and Andy Marsh badly needed a change in fortunes to make it profitable. The paradox of a poorly performing hotel next to one of Europe's busiest airports frames the case: the demand was on the doorstep, but the business was not capturing it. Polizzi's task was to work out why a property so well placed for airport trade was failing to convert that natural advantage into bookings and profit. The underperforming airport hotel aired in the series 10 finale in March 2014 before its rebrand toward the Gatwick parking trade its location suits.
After the cameras left
Waterhall survives and has rebranded, now trading as Trivelles Waterhall Country House, also styled the Trivelles Waterhall Country Gatwick Hotel and Airport Parking, a thirty-four acre countryside guest house near Gatwick. It holds a four out of five across more than six hundred TripAdvisor reviews. An official-looking subdomain returned an error on direct fetch, so the renamed status is held at medium confidence. The Marshes' underperforming airport hotel appears to have found its footing under new branding that leans hard into the Gatwick parking trade its location suits.
