What happened on the show
Bude, on the Cornish coast, was where Alex Polizzi's series 12 case, a shy hotelier named Trevor, known for keeping out of sight of the very guests he depended on. That reticence was the crux: a proprietor whose instinct was to avoid people, in a trade where warmth and presence are half the product. Polizzi's work was as much about coaxing an owner out of his shell as fixing the property, since a hotelier who hides from guests undermines the hospitality at the heart of the business. The eleven-bedroom Victorian house overlooking Summerleaze Beach had the setting and the bones; what it needed was an owner willing to stand at the front of it and greet the people booking in.
After the cameras left
Atlantic House is still trading and has adapted. The eleven en-suite Victorian property overlooking Summerleaze Beach has been repurposed from a guest-house-style bed and breakfast into a whole-property group holiday let sleeping twenty-two to twenty-eight, its official site live with a functional booking system as of 2026. The show returned for a 2017 revisit to see whether Trevor had stepped out of the shadows. The business model shifted, but the same building and name continue, so this is a survival and pivot, with the Bude property firmly a going concern.
