What happened on the show
Richard and Marilyn Schlossbach were short on lobster at their Asbury Park lounge. Charles Stiles sent mystery diners Megan and Natale in as a waitress and a customer, with investigator Dennis assisting. As aired, a manager was ordering her own lobsters but paying for them, and an efficient waitress was merely hawking swimsuits on the side, but the real culprit was a waiter and lobster activist, lying to guests that the kitchen had run out, badmouthing lobster, and stealing both the restaurant's lobsters and traps from the marina. The confrontation has the owners firing him as he bolts for the beach to free more lobsters. Given the scripting claims that later dogged Mystery Diners, this lobster sting is best framed as broadcast rather than as verified.
After the cameras left
Langosta Lounge has since closed, in the ordinary way and on the owners' own terms. The restaurant's own site posted a closure notice giving a final day of service at 1000 North Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, per our 2026 pass, the page not stating a year, so we note the month and day rather than guess. A seaside room reaching its end is ordinary lifecycle, not the residue of a lobster sting. The show filmed one night of an activist waiter; the closure came later and on the restaurant's own schedule.
