What happened on the show
Damian Doffo found expensive wine barrels going missing at his Temecula winery and suspected his tasting-room manager and vineyard hands. Charles Stiles' investigator Patrick planted tracking devices in empty barrels, then bought a tagged one back from a furniture maker in Murrieta, and mystery diners went in undercover. As aired, a vineyard worker and two others were quietly selling the barrels to that furniture maker for cash, while also racing the owner's golf carts, hurling water balloons and crashing the carts around the property. The confrontation has Damian firing the ringleaders. Stiles closes with the barrels accounted for. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of scripting these reveals, this barrel-theft sting is best read as broadcast rather than as independently confirmed.
