What happened after
Bar in Hillsboro Village permanently closed; local business directory and LLC dissolution record both confirm.
What happened on the show
Rose Melillo and Tom Kiermaier were hearing their songwriting contest was rigged at their Nashville bar. Charles Stiles sent mystery diner Katie in as a contestant, joined by guest diner Tiffany Darwish, the eighties pop star and a friend of the owner. As aired, a bartender was sabotaging singers with free drinks and a blender's noise, a sound engineer was fouling the mix so sober performers stumbled too, and the two were slipping their own songs to rigged winners, one such winner breaking down when Stiles asked if she wrote her entry. The confrontation has the owners firing the bartender and engineer and disqualifying the ringers. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of scripting these reveals, this contest sting is best read as broadcast rather than as documented event.
After the cameras left
Belcourt Taps has since closed. The Hillsboro Village bar at 2117 Belcourt Avenue is confirmed permanently closed by a local business directory and a dissolved-LLC record in our 2026 pass, with community discussion corroborating. A neighborhood bar winding down is ordinary lifecycle, not the residue of a rigged-contest sting. The show filmed one night of a crooked songwriting night; the closure came later and on its own timeline, which is how most of these stories, and this whole series, actually end.
