What happened on the show
Oceana had one of the best addresses on the show, right on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, run by brothers Moe and Rami who had inherited it from their successful father. Moe fancied himself the wiser older brother, but everyone agreed he had a frightening temper and kept a wall of photos of staff he had fired; one waitress, Nell, had been fired four times herself. The food betrayed the location: a seafood gumbo Ramsay called an embarrassment to Bourbon Street, watery fast-defrosted crab cakes, and blackened duck so tough it seemed cooked for days. The duck, it emerged, was prepared off-site once a month and frozen. When Ramsay confronted head chef Damon, who had been laughing along with Moe about the food, Damon literally squared up to him before Rami broke it up, and Ramsay declared he was not there to help liars.
After the cameras left
Oceana, now known as Oceana Grill, is one of the show's clear survivors, still operating near the French Quarter as of our latest verification. The owners later filed a 2018 lawsuit against the producers alleging scenes had been fabricated, a dispute separate from the restaurant's health, which by every measure kept humming along.
