What happened on the show

Before Ramsay ever set foot in La Frite, its founder came to him: Andre Ramillon, who had run the Sherman Oaks French restaurant with real success since 1972, showed up at Ramsay's own Los Angeles restaurant to unburden himself about his warring children. His son Alex had expected to inherit it, then bristled when his sister Celine returned after a failed venture and claimed a stake, and the two had not worked together since. The kitchen carried the fallout. The seafood crepe came half hot and half stone cold, a giveaway that head chef Martin had microwaved it, which Martin denied until Ramsay caught the lie. Ramsay accused Martin of sabotaging Celine, whom he refused to take orders from, and the chef nearly walked out feeling attacked. Alex, meanwhile, insisted the place needed only minor repairs and that his sister did not belong there at all.

After the cameras left

The family could not hold onto what Andre built. La Frite was sold to a new owner in 2016 and rebranded as the Italian spot Modo Mia in late 2017, ending the restaurant's run under the Ramillon name. Modo Mia itself stopped operating by 2023, leaving the 15013 Ventura Boulevard address in Sherman Oaks vacant. A restaurant that thrived for over four decades did not survive the fight over who would inherit it.
