Water Gap Country Club Resort
Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania
It has since closed.
The short answer
Per Yelp listing text seen in search ('WATER GAP COUNTRY CLUB - CLOSED - Updated July 2026') and MapQuest/Loc8NearMe both labeling it closed; a GolfPass description calling it 'open to the public' appears to be stale aggregator copy contradicted by the more recent Yelp/MapQuest closure tags.
What happened on the show
Set in the Poconos at the Delaware Water Gap, this property was a country club and golf resort, and its episode title, Shotgun Start, played on the game it was built around. A resort tying its fortunes to golf, lodging and events faces a compound challenge: three businesses that all have to work, on a large property that is expensive to maintain. Melchiorri's task at 288 Mountain Road was to figure out whether the club, the course and the rooms could be run as a coherent, solvent operation or whether the whole thing was stretched too thin. He examined the guest and member experience and pushed ownership toward a disciplined operation that made each arm pull its weight. The counsel followed the show's line for a sprawling, asset-heavy resort, but the underlying economics of a full country club are among the hardest the format ever confronted.
After the cameras left
Water Gap Country Club did not make it. As of our 2026 pass the property's own review-site listing was tagged as closed with a mid-2026 update, and mapping and local-directory services likewise labeled it closed, outweighing a stale golf-directory description that still called it open to the public. We could not reach the resort's own site, which returned an access error, so the closure rests on aggregator and directory signals and we log it as closed with medium confidence and no precise end date. Confirmed closed as of our 2026 verification, a recheck candidate for a firmer closure date.
