Clegg's Hotel

Fire Island, New York

OPEN

Yes. This one is still open.

What happened after

17-room boutique hotel in Ocean Beach; official site active describing itself as 'your Go-To Fire Island Hotel in Ocean Beach, NY'.

What happened on the show

On car-free Fire Island, in the village of Ocean Beach, Melchiorri took on Clegg's Hotel, a small property of roughly 18 rooms with a serious layout flaw, only four bathrooms shared among the guests, alongside moldy carpets and outdated furniture. The episode, Fire Island Meltdown, was defined as much by the owner's resistance as by the physical problems, with Anthony meeting pushback at every turn. A boutique hotel in a beloved, hard-to-reach beach community has a captive summer market, but shared bathrooms, mold and dated rooms undercut the premium such a location should command. Anthony worked the rooms, the bathroom situation and the furnishings while pressing a resistant owner to accept change. The guidance matched the spine the series ran on for a location-blessed property held back by neglect and stubbornness: the island brings the guests, but a clean, comfortable, sensibly configured hotel is what earns their money and their return.

After the cameras left

Clegg's is still an Ocean Beach fixture. As of our 2026 verification the small boutique hotel is open, with an active official site billing it as a go-to Fire Island hotel in Ocean Beach, and its Facebook page shows a following in the thousands with recent activity. Whatever became of the owner's on-camera resistance, the property has stayed in business more than a decade after the show, still serving the car-free beach community. Confirmed operating as of 2026.
