Ramsay called the Sacramento stop his biggest challenge yet, and the trouble was never really the barbecue. The fix did not hold, and Sandra Dee did not stay in touch. Reporting says that about three months after the renovation she reverted to the old menu and never contacted Ramsay for an update. The Sacramento restaurant, after roughly twenty years, dropped to catering only in July 2019 and then closed for good on December 23, 2023. Reviews had already turned mixed before the end. The barbecue outlived the show by a few years, but the discipline problem Ramsay named outlived the barbecue.
